Are You Using the Available Tools of Quality 2025?
Too many people are using unsupported, home-grown tools to improve quality. Or using none at all. That’s a problem. Here’s why:

“Well hi, I’m Jay Arthur, author of “Lean Six Sigma Demystified” and QI Macros [software].
“In the old days, pharmacists used to grind up and mix chemicals by hand to make prescriptions, right? And graphic artists used to hand draw everything, right? And opticians used to grind lenses by hand to make glasses. So all those people… all those jobs are still needed, but they don’t do them the way they did 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100 years ago, right? They’re using the new tools that are available.
“You have to ask yourself, are you using the tools that are available? Are you still using things from the last century like line and bar charts? Or are you using the Tools of Quality? They have been around since then but nobody’s using them so they’re a little unused. You could rediscover them, right?
“So are you embracing the changes that are needed in your job or are you rejecting them? I believe that we have to accept, accept, accept. Our oldest daughter has a thing she says: “I always say yes.” WHAT? That seems a little scary, but why not.
“Anyway, that’s my Improvement Insight. Let’s go out and improve something this week.”
