I noticed as he was typing, he was just skating on the keyboard and then doing things. And I thought, &#8220;Wow, that&#8217;s different.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;You know, when I learned how to type in high school, it was on a manual typewriter. And then eventually they came out with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/history\/selectric\">IBM Selectric<\/a>, which you could touch type, but I was still pounding the keys to make them hit the thing. And then when we got keyboards, I&#8217;m still pounding the keyboard, right? So old habits die hard.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;When I try to send a text on my phone, I&#8217;m pushing buttons. You know, my fingers are too big and I haven&#8217;t yet learned how to skate. I&#8217;m trying to teach myself how to skate and pick words and stuff, but one of the things is old habits die hard.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;You know, what did you learn how to do in Six Sigma the hard way? Are you still trying to do it the hard way? And are you still trying to teach other people how to do it the hard way? No! Let&#8217;s stop that.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;You know, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qimacros.com\/control-chart\/control-chart-wizard\/\">QI Macros\u2019 Control Chart Wizard<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qimacros.com\/hypothesis-testing\/statistics-wizard-excel\/\">Stat Wizard<\/a>, our other wizards, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qimacros.com\/data-mining-analysis-excel\/data-mining-wizard\/\">Improvement Project Wizards<\/a>, you can automate most of the stuff that used to be complicated. You can just select some data, click a button, get a chart, start some analysis. You don&#8217;t have to do it the hard way. You don&#8217;t have to learn all the formulas. You don&#8217;t need to know all that stuff. What you need to know is what are we doing? What what&#8217;s the outcome? And what did I learn from that? And then what do we want to do about it? That&#8217;s it.<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;So old habits die hard. What old habit are you hanging on to? What old habit can you let go of right now that would make you better, faster, cheaper, safer? You know, in healthcare, they&#8217;re still doing some things the old-fashioned way that are slower, more error-prone, and whatever. Better, faster, cheaper, safer all the time, everywhere.
