There are four\u00a0main costs of poor quality:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Internal failure<\/strong>s that cause rework and scrap.<\/li>\n<li><strong>External failures<\/strong> that increase returns (to be reworked or scrapped), billing adjustments, concessions and customer complaints.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Inspection costs<\/strong> of incoming materials,inspection of work in process and final inspection and testing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prevention costs<\/strong> (i.e, Lean Six Sigma)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Inspection, failure, rework and scrap can easily devour much of a companies time and money.
