We have found
that many customer questions are actually about Excel or statistics, not
the QI Macros. Check these FAQ pages:
Here are the technical support issues that apply to Macintosh.
The Macintosh Office team, in their infinite wisdom, chose not to support
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) in Excel 2008 for the Macintosh. This
means that the QI Macros will not run in Excel 2008 for the Mac. You can
still open and use all of the control chart templates, value stream maps
and so on.
We'd recommend that when you install 2008, choose "custom install"
and keep an Excel 2004 or older version to run the QI Macros. (They are
also a lot faster than 2008.)
There are rumors that VBA might return in Service Pack 3 in 2010. We
will keep an eye on service packs for the Macintosh to see if VBA support
is added later.
Installation Problems - Macintosh

OS 8,9,X and
Office 98, 2001, X, 2004
For OS8,9, X and Office 98-2004, they should be installed in Microsoft
Office:Office:Startup:Excel.
Alternate Installation Method
- Copy the Microsoft Office:Office:Startup:Excel folder from the CDROM
to a folder on your hard drive. Write down the path to this folder.
- Start Excel
- Go to Excel-Preferences-General (OSX) on the menu bar.
- Enter the Alternate Startup Directory by searching to find the folder
with the macros in it.
- Close Excel
- Restart Excel. When you have a worksheet open, the QI Macros menu
should appear.
QI Macros Menu shows up twice
OSX: You probably have installed the macros and created
an alternate startup link to the macros (you load them twice). Go to EXCEL-PREFERENCES-GENERAL
and clear the Alternate Startup Folder entry.
Dates in the template are off by 4 years?
Excel has two date formats: 1900 for the PC and 1904 for the Macintosh.
To correct this problem while in the template, click on Excel's Tools-Options-Calculation
and check/uncheck the 1904 Date System checkbox:

After extensive testing, I determined that Excel 2004 VBA cannot change
point colors on control charts. I have reported this to Microsoft.
After extensive testing, I determined that Excel 2004 defaults to shadows
on line graphs, control charts, etc. (See below). This was fixed April
10, 2009. If you have this problem, please call our office and you can
download the fix for Excel 2004. It's not a problem in Excel 2001 or 98.
