Scatter Matrix Plot Diagram
Purpose: matrix-plot (a.k.a. scatter plot matrix) diagrams
are used to evaluate the correlation or cause-effect relationship (if
any) between two or more variables (e.g., color, residue and perceived
quality in shampoo).
When you're investigating cause-effect links between two or more indicators
then you can use the matrix plot diagram to quickly identify. If
the points are tightly clustered along a line like machine gun stitching,
then there's probably a strong correlation. If it looks more like a shotgun
blast, there is no correlation.
How to create a Matrix-Plot Diagram:
- Select two or more columns of data:
- Click on the QI Macros pull-down menu and select "Matrix Plot".
- Enter titles for your chart when prompted.
- Analyze and interpret the results.
