Line Graphs show behavior of a process over time. It is the first step in defining a problem to be solved. Line graphs can show cycle time, defects or cost over time.
If you add a line showing the average to the line graph, you have a Run chart.
If you add upper and lower control limits and 1- and 2-sigma lines to your line graph, you have a control chart. A control chart will help you perform stability analysis on your data to identify potential problems and trends.
Line graphs, run charts, control charts and other Six Sigma and SPC charts are made easy using the QI Macros for Excel software.
