The QI Macros default control chart template uses the average of your data to calculate the center line on your control chart. The 1 and 2 sigma lines and the upper and lower control limits are derived from this average.

To use the control chart template:

1. Click on the QI Macros menu and select Fill in the Blank Templates then SPC Charts.

   

2. Click on one of the control chart templates to open it (e.g. XmR Four Pak.)
3. The control chart using the average line is the default and is usually the worksheet that is the farthest tab to the left (e.g. XmR Individuals Chart.)



4. Data input areas are shaded in yellow. As you input data, the charts populate to the right.



5. To the right of the control charts is a box labeled "Process Change at Row." If you want to show a process change on your chart, simply input the row where you want the change to occur. The template will calculate two sets of control limits. The first uses the data points up to the row you input and the second uses the data in the row you input and all points after it.



6. Additionaly, the X chart templates have input areas to define spec limits for the histogram.

• Control Chart with Center Line based on the Average - uses the average of your data for the center line.
• Control Chart with Rolling Data and Control Limits - graphs the most recent data points as defined by you.
• Control Chart Center Line based on the Median (X charts only) - uses the median of your data for the center line instead of the average.
• Short Run (DNOM) Control Chart - compares your data points against a target value for each point. For use when you are making a few parts of different sizes.
• Horizontal Control Chart worksheet - for data organized in rows versus columns.
• Control Chart with Fixed Control Limits - allows you to enter fixed or historical control limits.
