QI Macros Lesson 3 - Chart Templates & Other Tools | |||||||||||||||||||
We help people think! |
In this Issue
In addition to the charts listed on the pull down menu,
the QI Macros contains over 70 fill-in-the-blank templates. To access these templates select Fill-in-the-Blanks Templates on the QI Macros pull down menu and then the sub category.
Excel 2007:
Each template is designed for fill-in-the-blanks ease of use. Tools like the flow chart and fishbone diagram make use of Excel's drawing toolbar. To view Excel's Drawing Toolbar select View/Toolbars and click to the left of the word "Drawing."
The QI Macros contain templates for each kind of control chart. Just cut and paste or input data directly into the yellow shaded area. The control charts will populate as data is input. Click on the charts themselves to change the pull down menu to run stability analysis. The X chart templates also draw a histogram and probability plot of your data. You can also link the input cells to the cells of another spreadsheet using the Paste Link and Paste Link Transpose functions. As you update your spreadsheet, the template input fields and template chart will update. For further information see data transformation article. These functions are especially helpful when you have data coming from a gage or database in a consistent format every day or month. Just set your template to link to the standard datasheet and every time you update your datasheet, your chart will automatically be created. In addition to control charts, there are templates for histograms with Cp and Cpk, probability plots, box and whisker, cusum, scatter and pareto charts.
The templates and Excels linking functions can be used as building blocks to create dashboards. If you need further help on how to do this, consider our Creating Dashboards and Scorecards ebook. We have also created Fill-in-the-Blanks Dashboard Systems for only $50/measure. The systems consist of four parts:

Design for Six Sigma tools included in the QI Macros: AIAG PPAP and Gage R&RThe QI Macros also contain many of the tools used by the AIAG and other manufacturers including PPAP Forms (4th edition), Control Plans and MSA Gage R&R (3rd edition). The QIMacros are updated each time a new AIAG edition is published. For more information on Gage R&R see our Gage R&R Whitepaper or Watch Gage RR Video Put Your Whole QI Story in One WorkbookBecause the QI Macros are an all-in-one toolkit for Six Sigma, you can put your entire improvement story in one workbook, by simply adding worksheets. Let's say you've created a line and pareto chart in one workbook. After you choose Ishikawa/Fishbone from fill in the blanks templates; just go to EDIT-MOVE or COPY SHEET to move the template into the existing workbook. It's a great way to keep all of your information in one place. See our Data Analysis 101 article for how to create an improvement story. Our Six Sigma Simplified email course and Six Sigma Simplified Ezine Archives are full of information. Our Complete Six Sigma System includes training videos, audios and books to guide you through your first project. If you need help selling the concept of Six Sigma to your Leadership Team, consider our Six Sigma Golf book. It not only provides help on improving your golf game but it also teaches the concepts of Six Sigma using a topic most executives are interested in. If you are having trouble getting results from current teams or have a mission critical problem that needs to be solved now consider our One Day Lean Six Sigma Workshop. In Lesson #4 we will cover Stability and Capability Analysis. View previous lesson .............View next lesson To sign up for this series tell your friends to send an email to qimacros@aweber.com
